• Upon arrival you will be asked to fill out a client intake form. This will include contact information, and more importantly your health history. This important step helps me determine if you have any conditions that would rule out massage due to any health risks. I will review this with you in detail before your massage. All information is confidential under HIPPA guidelines and may be released to your doctor, only with your written permission. In certain cases, I will need written permission from your health care provider before I can administer your massage. We will go over the cancellation policy at this time as well. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled time for your consultation.
  • After discussing your needs, you will be instructed to disrobe to your level of comfort. A common question is should I leave my undergarments on or get fully undressed? Most people disrobe completely while some choose to leave their underwear on. Both are completely acceptable depending on your comfort level. As a licensed massage therapist, I will always practice industry guideline draping techniques. Draping is where the sheet will be tucked around your body, only exposing the area that is being worked on. Your personal privacy is always respected.
  • I will leave the room for you to disrobe. Don’t forget to remove your glasses, jewelry, and watch, and turn off or silence your cell phones at this time as well. If you have long hair, it is helpful for you to pull your hair up, off your neck. If you forget a hair tie, I can provide one for you.
  • Before re-entering the room, I will knock to be sure you’ve had adequate time to get on the table and cover up with the linens.
  • Before, during and even after the massage session make sure to communicate your needs. Every person is unique and has different likes and dislikes. So, please let me know what will make you feel more comfortable. Towards the beginning of your massage, you will be asked for feedback on the pressure that I’m using. Please let me know if at any time during, it’s too much or too little. Communicate if there is any discomfort, whether it’s from the massage or due to distractions related to the environment, such as: room temp., music volume, face cradle, etc. It’s also acceptable to communicate what you “do” like, during the massage as well. Good communication will enhance your massage experience. I will do my absolute best to accommodate your needs.
